The 2024 edition of popular Mornington Peninsula festival COASTAL JAM has been canceled, with founder Adam Metwally speaking candidly & directly to fans upon the announcement.
In an Instagram live video, subsequently shared across their socials, Metwally cites the significant challenges that their entire team has faced in the lead up to the 2024 event.
With ticket sales being directly impacted by the cost of living crisis, alongside saturation within the boutique event space, the Coastal Jam team made the tough decision to cancel the forthcoming festival.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of our festival scheduled for January 13th this year. As a small business in event promotion, we’ve faced significantly greater challenges than usual, especially with the cost of living crisis impacting us all. People waiting last minute leading to slower ticket sales, a major festival / international tour every other week and the overall financial constraints for our audience have unfortunately led us to this tough decision”
Adam Metwally, Coastal Jam
Despite the cancellation, Coastal Jam & Metwally have provided clarity and frankness to punters, providing three clear options for existing ticket holders.
If you’ve bought a ticket, you have 3 options:
- We partially refund you and honor the ticket for the Portsea Hotel event happening from 4PM on Sat 13th of January — your ticket will be partially refunded to $50
- You can’t / don’t want to come to either event but are happy to leave your ticket as a credit for a future festival with us. We will honor it for any single day event we run (even if the ticket price is higher / the event is sold out)
- You don’t want to attend any of the other events or keep your ticket as a credit, so you’d like a full refund
Coastal Jam have teamed up with Circa Trax & OURFRIENDS to put together a backup event in place on the festival, for revelers who still like to enjoy a day of great music, in the stunning coastal backdrop.
Sydney-based duo Set Mo is headlining with their trademark style of anthemic electronica, with support by Ben John, Jack Webb, Eliza Brayshaw, Piero + Bonnie Anderson, Holmes John, and Nite Theory + Ashley James.
