Ghost Care deliver striking new single ‘Canadian Dream’

Completing what can only be described as a touchstone year as a band in 2023, Western Australia’s GHOST CARE have returned ready and rejuvenated, eager to see what a brand new year of music holds for them.

Kicking off this new phase with the release of their single ‘Canadian Dream’, the indie-rock outfit reposition themselves as one of the West Coast’s most exciting groups – certainly, one to keep an eye out for as 2024 rolls out.

For their latest release, Ghost Care worked out of Perth’s Blackbird Studios with Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane, Sly Withers) on production and mixing, with Joe Carra (The Teskey Brothers, Courtney Barnett) applying his touch to final mastering.

Of ‘Canadian Dream’, Ghost Care’s Beau Torrance explains that the song revolves around his “Canadian Dream Girl”.

“[It] is dedicated to our honorary fourth member who has been our unwavering supporter since the beginning of Ghost Care. This song came organically during a jam session, almost writing itself in a burst of creative inspiration. Sometimes I can labour over lyrics for so long, but this one flowed from the heart in that very first session.

In this band there’s a running joke about my tendency to write break up songs despite being in a committed relationship. However, ‘Canadian Dream’ is a genuine reflection of gratitude. We recognise the sacrifices not only we make for our passion but also those made by our loved ones. The song is a heartfelt thank you, acknowledging the shared journey of dedication and love that extends beyond the music itself.”

BEAU TORRANCE, GHOST CARE

What began as a project between Torrance and drummer Luke Del Fante to create together, with a series of guest collaborators, quickly became a solidified unit once Tanaya Harper came into the fold. Ghost Care was born when they all realized the chemistry between each other was undeniable and has since led to a bright and incredible body of work that continues to diversify with the release of ‘Canadian Dream’.

Cutting their teeth supporting bands like The VANNSPacific AvenueSpacey Jane, Ball Park Music and more, the group kicked things up another notch in 2023.

Nominated for 5 WAM Awards in 2023 and completing their debut national headline tour in the same month, Ghost Care have been able to show audiences nationwide what the West Coast has already known – their spirit and musicality is inescapable.
