Anointed as Australia’s pioneer in post-racial comedy, Anthony Locascio today returns with the announcement of his latest endeavor; ‘Heart of Darkness’.
Returning from the success of ‘Don’t Call Me A Wog’ the Sydney based comedian brings a completely new show, exploring guilt, morality, love & depravity.
Bringing together a collection of stories of all of the worst things he’s ever done in his life (and boy, are they bad), Locascio will provide reason as to why, despite the morally questionable behaviors, he is deserving of love, life & laughter; and why you are too!
Off the back of SOLD OUT performances for his 2022 seasons ‘Don’t Call Me A Wog’, across the East Coast, Anthony will be again traipsing the highway, stopping in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney & Newcastle, before jetting over to Perth, all to share with his rapidly burgeoning audience, the wit, humor & raconteuring that make him so prolific.
Reaching down deep into the depths of his psyche, Anthony Locascio will share how only love can fish you out of the depth of depravity that humans can sink to. Welcome to ‘Heart of Darkness’. Anthony Locascio is one of Australian comedy’s rising stars, blending sharp joke writing with musings on his ethnic background, he is best known for his unique storytelling.
He completed a national tour in 2022 with the highly successful ‘Don’t Call Me A Wog!’, which included the Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy, Perth and Sydney Comedy Festivals. He was also hand picked for the Perth and Sydney Comedy Festival Galas in 2021 & 2022.
“This will be my second national festival tour in as many years. I learned so much about myself as a performer, a comedian, and a person last year, I am intrigued to see what the complexion of my audiences will be this year compared to last year; given my 2022 show leant heavily on themes of ethnicity, it was an easy sell to my fellow Greeks and Italians across Australia. This time my show should hopefully have a broader appeal, and that I didn’t scare anyone off with last year’s show.” Anthony Locascio
“The idea and framework for this show actually came to me before that of last year’s, but I felt the theme of “Don’t Call Me A Wog!” (feeling alienated by ethnic stereotypes) would be more appropriate for my first go around. Last year’s show incorporated a lot of AV, lighting, music cues etc, which were fun. This year however, I’m back to basics – man, microphone, opinions.” Anthony Locascio
Starting his career in 2017, he was a two time NSW Raw Comedy State Finalist, and has performed with some of the best comedians Australia has to offer. He can be found headlining and MCing all of Sydney’s best shows, as well as performing with some of the best comedians Australia has to offer; including Dave Hughes, Nikki Britton, Tahir, Anthony Salame, Luke Heggie and many more!
Anthony forged his path in stand-up by writing an hour show after a year of performing, hiring a theater and inviting 400 friends and acquaintances to watch.
The show was posted to social media, giving Anthony a loyal fanbase, selling out shows each year since 2017 and boosting Anthony’s Youtube channel to 12,000+ subscribers, and 1,000,000+ views, with hundreds of comments from angry people in Italy and Greece responding to a video in which Anthony calls them lazy.
