The VANNS have returned with a final, reflective track to round out 2022, with the driving & animated ‘Haunted’; a celebration of a prolific year of touring & following up previous single ‘Making It Out Alive’. Working again with The Music Farm’s (Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel) Chris Collins (Skeggs, Middle Kids), the band tracked ‘Haunted’ in the same session as ‘Making It Out Alive’ deep in the hinterlands of Byron Bay, with this the zealous & fiery accompaniment to its’ predecessor.
Whilst ‘Making It Out Alive’ saw The VANNS execute somber & grandiose to utter perfection, ‘Haunted’ sees the band return to their renowned gruff & compelling rock compositions. Jimmy Vann is gritty with passion, his vocals urgent over Cameron Little’s soaring lead lines throughout each chorus.
“Haunted is another taste from our forthcoming album. The song is about dealing with some tough mental health issues and coming out the other side of it learning to acknowledge it’s ok to feel like absolute shit and there are heaps of people around you who give a fuck.” The VANNS
“Between recording our new album and touring more or less since March, it’s been a pretty busy year for us. Looking forward to our festival sets over Summer and putting out more music and getting on the road next year!” The VANNS
‘Haunted’ follows on from the critical success of their debut LP ‘Through The Walls’, as well as follow up singles ‘Red Light’, Feels Good Now’ & ‘Making It Out Alive’, which both saw the band SELL OUT their entire ‘Red Light’ Australian tour, both regionally and within capital cities, & tour domestically with legendary acts The Kooks & The Wombats – The VANNS are comfortable & at home in arenas.
This success was supported with a rotation addition on triple j for most recent single ‘Making It Out Alive’, alongside community radio support from Coast FM, Rebel FM, SYN, Radio Adelaide, 2SER, 4ZZZ & more.
The VANNS formed for themselves a strong reputation as live performers around the country. Reaping industry acclaim including lucrative triple j Feature Album and Like A Version slots, the band converted the praise and stock being invested in them by tastemakers into a beloved show that has gone on to sell well over 6000 tickets across the nation, accruing over 17 million+ streams on platforms to date.
Recently, ‘Red Light’ & ‘Feel Good Now’ landed in triple j’ Hottest 200, with the band hitting stages at The Great Escape (UK), before sharing stages with indie-rock icons The Kooks & The Wombats, & having their emphatic Melbourne headline performance broadcast across triple j’s ‘Live At The Wireless’ program.
