Ghost Care release EP ‘Pedal To The Metal’ with riffed-out single ‘2.0’

2022 has been the year of Ghost Care and they farewell a career defining year with the release of their latest EP ‘Pedal to the Metal’ with focus single ‘2.0’.

This release showcases Ghost Care finding the utmost confidence and comfortability in their sound as they deliver an impeccable EP that is reminiscent of any widely loved Spacey Jane, Ball Park Music or Noah Dillon EP.

Earlier this year, Ghost Care made waves after being selected to showcase at the annual music industry festival and conference, BIGSOUND. Their high-energy mix of face melting guitar solos, punchy all-encompassing drums and finely tuned harmonies had people talking.

For their first interstate gig as a band they surpassed any expectation of being green and delivered an electrifying set due to having practised and refined their on-stage act from performing over 50 live shows within the closed borders of W.A. over the past two years.

‘Pedal To The Metal’ is the latest anticipated release after previous single ‘Part Time Living’ which received high praise and industry acclaim from tastemakers triple j, PBS, triple j Unearthed, Double J, Energy Groove, RTR FM, SYN, Three D, 2SER, 3RRR, 4ZZZ, 5ZZZ, Pilerats, MTV, RAGE, Spotify, Apple Music and TikTok.

This marks the third EP for the trio who have carved out a devout following due to their refined sound, countless high-production music videos and accolades that attest to their ability such as being nominated BEST POP ACT in the WAM Awards alongside San Cisco, Spacey Jane and Stella Donnelly.

“This EP is fun and has a lot of the upbeat and positive vibes that we love while also delving into themes of heartbreak, mental health and facing the reality of what is in front of you. The best way to do that sometimes is by putting the pedal to the metal.” Luke, Ghost Care

The EP features previously released favourites ‘Bussell Hwy’ and ‘Part Time Living’ alongside unreleased ‘2.0’, ‘Who’s Going To Love You Now’ and the acoustic version of the latter.

Focus single ‘2.0’ spotlights a compelling Luke on drums who adds an addictive syncopation to the beat that underpins layered vocal harmonies reminiscent of any Parcels track. However, they make it their own and deliver their signature open air rock oozing with swagger.

“One of our heaviest tracks so far that came about in part from a jam that happened after KG and in part from a riff Beau made with a drum loop when we were in that phase of making songs with bigger riffs. This song was a great change for us, it felt like our usual energy except with someone telling us to turn up the volume.”Luke, Ghost Care

Accompanying this release is a live performance music video of 2.0. Filmed and recorded at Tone City Studios the video was Directed & Edited by Saxon Wright with the audio Mixed & Mastered by Sam Ford. A mix of cam-corder and modern equipment elevates the textured static treatment of the vocals for a compelling watch.

Recorded at Blackbird studios in Perth, the song was then produced and mixed by Dave Parkin(Spacey Jane, San Cisco, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets), a long-time collaborator of the band, who has supported them through previous singles like ‘Part Time Living’, ‘Bussell Hwy’ and ‘Shelley Park’.

Ghost Care are no strangers to a stage having performed at notable festivals BIGSOUNDRTR FM’s In the Pines and supported The VANNS sold-out Perth legs of the ‘Red Light Tour’ with Eliza & The Delusionals as well as The Grogans, Pacific Avenue and Vacations supports.

They will be sending off the year in style by launching ‘Pedal to the Metal’ on Friday, December 9th at Liberty Alive in Perth. Their reputation for an electrifying set makes this not one to miss.

“This EP is a body of work that we’ve been excited to play for so long that we’ve been slowly weaving in songs into sets for about a year or so now. We really loved the energy that these songs naturally brought to a set and couldn’t help but start to include them in it.” Luke, Ghost Care
