Sydney quartet Dande and The Lion today unleash their latest single ‘Harder To Breathe’. Fueled by emotion, their new track showcases the powerful vocals of dual front women, Abbey Gardner and Natassa Zoe. The song has an edgy atmosphere with a crazy catchy chorus similar to their previous singles ‘Cheap Choice’, ‘Higher Places’ & ‘Wasting Time’.
“Harder To Breathe is a song about reflecting on a time when you were influenced to a point where you no longer recognised yourself. It’s acknowledging that this person changed your core, but you’re not going to let it happen again because you can see now that their influence wasn’t coming from a place of love”.
Abbey Gardner (Synth, Guitar, Vocalist)
Further elevating ‘Harder To Breathe’ to a world class level they enlisted ARIA- nominated prolific Sydney producer Xavier Dunn (Jack River, Peking Duk), with highly acclaimed Klaus Hill (Masked Wolf) taking over the final reins to mix and master.
“I remember having a d&m session with the band about the situation, and having them all hype me up. Shortly after, we were jamming on Harder to Breathe and the lyrics just flowed so easily. Harder to Breathe originally started being created while we were listening to a lot of Tigertown’s music, especially ‘Lonely Cities’. We wanted to try writing a song with an anti-chorus and once we started jamming on the idea, the song wrote itself.”

Gliding effortlessly between shades of indie-pop, electronica and alternative soundscapes Dande and The Lion are solidifying their position as one of Sydney’s next big acts to keep a close eye on.
The quartet have been creating music together since 2017, playing over 100+ shows in acclaimed venues along the Australian east coast, such as Oxford Art Factory (main stage), Factory Theatre, the Lansdowne Hotel, Workers Club as well as The Sydney Fringe Festival.
They won a Best Music Video (Cheap Choice, 2022), and a Nominee of Best Song (Higher Places, 2021) at Cannes World Film Festival. Their musicianship has developed over the years, with recent singles that have caught the attention of Triple J (Home & Hosed), MTV, The Music, Scenestr, Happy Mag including accumulating over 100K streams on Spotify. Their music is often likened to The Naked & Famous, The Jezebels & The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
