Radolescent serve up fiery punk ballad in latest single ‘Tough’

Following the release of their ‘Excellent People’ EP as well as sold out performances across the country supporting Aussie punk royalty acts such as Beddy Rays this year, Dune Rats, Bad//Dreems, Private Function & Press Club, Gold Coast 5 piece Radolescent is releasing today their fiery new single ‘Tough’.

Led by a Country inspired slide guitar meets a punk rhythm, their new single further establishes the band’s unique and creative prowess.

“Tough’ in its essence, is a song akin to the feeling of someone close to you becoming a stranger right before your eyes – a probing sense that maybe they weren’t the person you thought they were, while also reeling from the fact maybe you weren’t the person they hoped you were either.

The confusion of hope amalgamated with the harsh realities of what a relationship can truly be in its day to day, is what ‘Tough’ explores. We all wear a disguise and ‘Tough’ explores where yours ends and where those around you begin.” Radolescent

Once again working with Brisbane based engineer and producer, Brock Weston (Bugs, Electric Zebra) who produced and mixed their previous single ‘Pity Party’ which landed them Triple j Unearthed artist of the week, this new single ‘Tough’ was first tested out at their live shows.

Isaac Atkinson (Vocals, Guitar) further adding “ the crowd’s reaction was super positive so we decided to record it alongside our previous single “Pity Party’. The recording process was super enjoyable working alongside Brock Weston, we spent two days in the studio to come out the other side with something we felt represented the sound we were achieving at the live shows.”

Showcasing their creative spark and versatility in creating songs that punch you in the gut, their new single ‘Tough’ is the “result of bass guitarist Lachlan Barker, an acoustic guitar and a few too many beers under the Bali hut of his Gold Coast home. After writing what was a somewhat country-esk vibe of a song  Lachlan brought the tune to the rest of the band where it was converted into a full blown rock song, with the application of big drums, power chords and a beautiful slide guitar.”

Radolescent continue to rack up a massive fan base that has already given them half a million streams across Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube and multiple spins across Triple J, Rebel FM and 4ZZZ. They released their debut album in 2019 but were forced to cancel shows due to the pandemic.

However, they are poised for a wide-open road ahead of them and are excited to once again bring their genre bending styles of punk rock to the East coast of Australia.

It hasn’t all been bad though, with the opportunity to support their close mates the Beddy Rays on a sold out national tour, multiple festival appearances and playing sold out shows at both The Tivoli and The Triffid in Brisbane the band has enjoyed some of their best performances to date since the end of the covid era.

“Although after all of these momentous shows in the past eighteen months we want nothing more than to play a full hour of our old hits and new bangers for our fans. With a set list packed to the brim, plus our close friends the up and coming Brisbane act Radium Dolls joining in, these shows promise to be something special and truly a celebration of our long journey to get here.” Radolescent
