BUTTERED are reinvigorated in stunningly smooth new single ‘REBORN’

Having built a cult following on Queensland’s sparkling Gold Coast, Buttered have returned to shine brighter than ever with the invigorating new single ‘Reborn’.

The band’s experiment, dipping their toes in the warm waters of Anderson Paak, Tom Misch Matt Corby inspired rhythms and melodies has soaked the ‘Reborn’ in soul, groove and intimacy. The R&B traits blending sweetly with indie pop sensibilities that Buttered are now becoming renowned for.

In authentic Buttered tradition, the band couldn’t resist theming ‘Reborn’ as a love song, showcasing the vulnerability and honestly that has connected the band with audiences up and down the Australian east coast. Their personal lives and relationships on show for all to breathe in.

“Reborn was an experiment for us to explore a genre that we hadn’t really dipped our toes in before. We had been listening to a lot of Anderson Paak, Tom Misch and even some Charlie Puth which inspired us to make something that people could finally dance to. In true Buttered tradition we couldn’t resist the allure of another love song and at that point in time in our personal lives it was all we wanted to write about. Basically we wanted to push ourselves outside of our comfort zone to produce something that could sit in the realm of pop music.” Buttered

Buttered worked closely with Gold Coast based friend and producer Jared Adlam (Caligula’s Horse, Hazel Mei & Sametime) to carve out ‘Reborn’. Initially created as an acoustic demo by co-singer Jackson James Smith, the track didn’t connect with band mate Scott Dalton on initial listening.

Jackson stayed true with the song however, reshaping it on a synthesizer, with support from a programmed drum and bass groove, for it to swell into Scott’s ears with new life. The band retained a homegrown vision for production, with local Paul Blakey (Amy Shark, Busby Marou, Cheap Fakes) providing final touches in the master.

“When Jackson first played reborn to scott acoustically he got the silent look of disapproval that he knew too well from their years of sharing new ideas. A few months later Jackson played it again on a synth and Scott finally heard the potential of the song. After frantically programming a drum groove and plugging in the bass, Scott approached it with new ears and in under half an hour the demo was recorded and Reborn was … born.” Buttered

Buttered have spent the 18 months since inception, sharing stages with established Australian acts Eliza & The Delusionals, Peach Fur & Saint Lane, as well as performing their own headline tour through QLD & NSW, supporting previous single ‘Love’.

The swell of support for the band led to a Gold Coast Music Award ‘Breakout Artist of The Year’ nomination & now finds Buttered announcing headline dates in support of ‘Reborn’, driven by a desire to reach & connect with vast audiences across Australia.
