ELAURA returns with hypnotic neo-soul track ‘Shadow Talk’

A masterful fusion of contemporary R&B, sultry neo-soul and hip-hop inspired beats sees ELAURA fully crystallise her craft in ‘Shadow Talk’ out now.

This single highlights ELAURA’s talent and versatility as an artist and is flawless in its execution. Effortlessly transitioning from the hypnotic, gentle tones of the chorus, to a surprise soft spoken verse, all while maintaining a clean grooving beat you’ll be reminded of music powerhouses BIIG PIIG,Kaytranada, and Aluna George.

Once you hit play, gentle chords, crickets and harmonics bring this sunrise-esque beginning to fruition, after which ELAURA comes in, fully consuming you in her rich luscious vocals, carried through with a perfectly complementary driving beat.

The track was recorded at Producer Sunday’s (Josh Yardy) home studio in Melbourne. Throughout the song, jazzy piano chords keep the momentum as musical flourishes make the track irresistible. Vocal samples are sporadically pitch shifted, firmly anchoring this song in the contemporary – making for a delicious and memorable listen.

“Shadow Talk is for anyone doubting their ability to step into their own power. Being the leader of your life means co-existing with your shadows & ego, and not letting that part of you run your life. It reflects my belief that people can change into better versions of themselves if we learn to stop repressing our fears & lean on our community. It’s a reminder to myself that I am in charge of where I lead my life, what’s important is that I stay aware of the aspect of myself that’s leading.  I see my ego rolling out the carpet, but it’s me the sequel.” ELAURA

Australian born, Chilean blooded, ELAURA’s musical practice is an homage to the strength of the women in her family. Her stage name, a blend of her great grandmothers’ ‘Emilia’ & ‘Laura’. ELAURA is on a mission to use her voice and claim her place as an entrepreneurial woman in music, with the force of those that came before her. Whether accompanied by her 6-piece band or with her electric guitar, ELAURA will leave you not only with melodies replaying in your mind, but also a new-found warm-ness in your heart and soul. This is undeniably ELAURA’s world, we’re all just living in it.
