Perth indie rock group Pot Plant House Party return with new single, ‘Second To Rest’

Back with their third release for the year, Perth’s Pot Plant House Party serves up another rumbling slice of indie rock in ‘Second To Rest’. Continuing to bolster the now-undeniable fact that Western Australia has been producing some of the country’s best musicians and acts genre-wide, the four-piece proves their dynamism, as well as their strength as performers and writers in spades.

‘Second To Rest’ hits hard in the same vein of your Sly Withers, your Luca Brasis, your Slowly Slowlys. And yet, within the song’s almost four minutes, there exists a burst of energy completely unique to Pot Plant House Party – just like their name.

The release of ‘Second To Rest’ follows on from the band’s previous singles ‘Time Machine’ and ‘Late Night Science Fiction’; fitting in perfectly as the wider Pot Plant House Party body of work continues to thrive.

Recorded between Hopping Mouse Studios in Fremantle and Templeman Audio Studios in Leederville, the band worked with engineers Matthew Templeman (Sly Withers, Voyager) and Fraser Cringle (Make Them Suffer) to get the sound just right.

For the ‘Second To Rest’ video, Pot Plant House Party worked with Cooper Gordan (Gorco Visuals) at Friday Studios in West Perth. Taking over a warehouse, the band perform ‘Second To Rest’ in a shoot that captured the energy of the song to a tee.

“We used this opportunity to get all dressed up in a big warehouse. An ode to 70s fashion. We wanted to match the mood of the song and lean into a nice aesthetic with the spotlights, the first time we’ve ever taken ourselves semi-seriously and not just ran around town in ghillie suits.  The video concept and shoot was  whipped up super quick and over a cold night’s shoot. Cooper and Ashleigh at Gordonco visuals did a great job of the whole shoot so shoutout to them.”
