Howlite unveil new single ‘Olympia’!

‘Olympia’ is a pillowy-pop delight that further showcases the bands affinity for elemental, cinematic dreamscapes. The song offers a second taste from their forthcoming EP, Not Here, and builds on the ethereal, indie foundations of their previous release ‘Reducer’ – a track that was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday in Germany and Switzerland, and was added to their coveted Fresh Finds playlist.

Vocalist, Alison Thom soars above the dark and brooding musical foundations of the song, and reflects a growing affinity for pop songwriting. Her beguiling vocals, coupled with the bands electronic, trip-pop undertones captivates in the same vein as London Grammar, Agnes Obel and The XX.

Alison shares that “‘Olympia’ is an evocative dissection of the male gaze, and how one can subvert it.” Thom’s lyrical prowess, set against a backdrop of dark pop instrumentation, showcases a band on the precipice of something great, poised with the confidence and curiosity to explore otherworldly beauty.

“’Reducer’ was the first glimpse of a fairly new sound and vision for us,” says Thom. “We now have a strong sense of confidence and focus with the release of ‘Olympia’, which offers an even bigger slice of where our sound is heading. Alongside producer Tyson Fish (Children Collide, Vance Joy), we engaged super producer JP Fung ( AViVA, Lime Cordiale, MANE) to help harness the tracks pop song elements.”

Renowned for an engaging and atmospheric live presence, Howlite will hit the road supporting local legends Telescreen in Melbourne, supporting Irish indie-pop stars Walking On Cars in Perth, then return to Melbourne to headline the Grace Darling with Dande and The Lion for their official single launch.
