The Velvet Club’s new single ‘Sometimes’ is quick to envelop the listener, making for a perfect first release of the year for the Melbourne four piece.
Fans will already be familiar with the song, a favourite at live shows. With the official release of ‘Sometimes’, The Velvet Club have put a marker on a fruitful and exciting point of their career.
Lead vocalist AJ carries the emotional depth of the song beautifully. His tones, mixed in with the band’s rumbling rhythm section and uplifting guitars, reminiscent of DMA’s and Gang of Youths.
‘Sometimes’ demonstrates the great indie stock The Velvet Club’s musical foundation has been born out of. It also shines as a song to indicate where the band is still yet to head.
Forming in early 2018, the band flourished out of jam sessions in a Melbourne warehouse, leading to the release of their debut single ‘Feels Like’. Following the release up with the addictive indie-rock track ‘Northern Beaches’, The Velvet Club began gaining momentum from live music fans and industry alike.
Melbourne’s new indie sound…
With the release of ‘Sometimes’, The Velvet Club demonstrate maturity in their songwriting and as performers. The band’s dynamic is shown to be evolving and strengthening beautifully.
A year of new music and shows lay ahead for The Velvet Club.
