Runaway Mornings bares all with evocative new single, ‘In The Cold’, ahead of April launch shows!

Sydney songwriter William O’Donohue aka Runaway Mornings has marked an impactful return in 2019 with a stunning new effort in new single, ‘In The Cold’. With NSW shows lined up for April, the latest from the North Shore artist brims with excitement looking ahead to a new year of material.

Buoyed on by crisp indie-electronic instrumentation and a deep vocal that oozes rich quality, ‘In The Cold’ captivates with each sonic swell. Personal and contemplative, Runaway Mornings puts his soul on the track and invites the listener in to become enveloped by the music.

“I want to be alone, far away from here…”

Recorded at The Grove Studios alongside James Osborn and Jack Nigro on mixing and engineering, and Darren Ziesing on mastering, Runaway Mornings’ new single came to life in a creative environment marked by openness, encouragement and support.

“This song was just one I’d had hibernating for a little while, it was around for the recording of the first EP, but I was a little close to it at the time, so I never brought it out to show anyone. It was just something I’d play to myself, whenever it popped into my head. …This completely personal therapeutic song, that I never thought much about releasing, let alone recording, became the obvious choice for the next single.” Runaway Mornings

The music of Runaway Mornings has always been marked by expansive soundscapes and a love for ethereal and emotive songwriting. Debut EP In Hindsight was a perfect introductory piece. A record that offered insight into the young songwriter’s burgeoning artistry.

With a sound akin to artists like Local Natives, The Rubens and Timberwolf, Runaway Mornings matches vulnerability with musical strength. A combination that has followed through beautifully into his new work. Delving into personal anguish, relationships and intimacy that only comes from looking inward to move forward, Runaway Mornings has harnessed a formula for creative expression that is not only detailed and heartfelt. It is ever intelligent and formidable too.
