Canadian indie folk group The East Pointers have just announced the upcoming release of a new single set to welcome us into 2025; ‘Anniversary’, which will be released on Friday January 10th. Today, December 4th, marks what would have been the 40th birthday of dearly departed band member Koady Chaisson. Bandmates Tim Chaisson (fiddle, vocals, guitar) and Jake Charron (keys, guitar, vocals) remember him today by announcing the upcoming track in his honour;
“When Jake and I sat down to write, ‘Anniversary’ was the first song that came out—it was as if Koady was in the room with us, it flowed so fast. We want this song to give anybody permission to give themselves a pat on the back, for any of the wins or positive changes in their life. A celebration you continue to honour, especially when times get tough.” TIM CHAISSON
A heartfelt modern-folk track incorporating a wide variety of gorgeous instrumentation, a driving beat and a stunning, chiming chorus of backing vocals, ‘Anniversary’ is driven by a hopeful desire to look to the bright side of the road; celebrating the future rather than living in the harder moments of the past.
“‘Anniversary’ is a song about how making one positive decision can change the rest of your life. 11 years ago today (on his birthday) our late band member Koady made some major changes to his life to improve his mental health, one of which was becoming sober.
This is a song to celebrate fresh starts, milestones, and the wins that we have along the way, big or small.” JAKE CHARRON
Following closely behind the news that The East Pointers will be headed to Australia in the early months of 2025 for an array of festival and headline dates, the single is due out on January 10th to preface the band’s return to the country across February and March.
