The Deenys deliver big themes and big sounds with their anthemic new single ‘Eyes Wide Shut’

In their rousing new anthem ‘Eyes Wide Shut’, Perth indie rockers The Deenys explore themes of power, deception, and social & political hardship.

Serving up an impressive combination of hard-hitting instrumentals and inspiring lyrics, the resulting track lingers in both mind and heart for well after the first listen. With no intention to shy away from big themes or big sounds alike, The Deenys are quickly establishing themselves as ones to watch in the indie rock scene.

“‘Eyes Wide Shut’ touches on the idea that we want to feel more in control, but right in front of our eyes we’re being lied to, deceived and cheated by politicians, big business and people in power. It’s about those moments where you feel beaten down, sh*t on, and you want to fight back.” The Deenys

Coming in hot as the lead single from their upcoming debut EP Alford Way, ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ is just one in a collection of exciting new tracks to expect from The Deenys, all of which boast mixing and mastering credits from the likes of Dylan Adams (DMA’s, Skegss, The Moving Stills) and RIDE’s Mark Gardener, respectively.

“We all wanted to record this EP with Dylan Adams (DMA’s, Skegss, The Moving Stills). His way of thinking in the studio and production style complements our music so well. And once again, he absolutely aced it.” The Deenys

Following their recent success with tracks like ‘Coming Home’ and ‘Last Minute Winner’ released earlier this year, The Deenys have already made quite the impression on the indie-rock world. ‘Last Minute Winner’ premiered and was named Track of The Day on triple j Unearthed, and also made it onto triple j. The music video for their 2021 single ‘Life Goes On’ aired on ABC’s rage.

Having opened for Old Mervs on a range of dates from their 2023 ‘Get Better’ Australian Tour, these UK-&-Ireland-natives-turned-WA-rockers have similarly already gained traction in the local live music scene. With 88K+ streams on Spotify and 18K+ on YouTube, the band is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
