Oly Sherman releases captivating new single ‘Hallucinate’

Following the release of his ‘Wide Awake’ EP earlier this year, Oly Sherman is back with ‘Hallucinate’ – another powerful, emotive new single from the Australian indie-soul songwriter.

While writing ‘Hallucinate’, Oly Sherman found inspiration through pulling away from the whirlwind of being a touring musician, and rediscovering his love for songwriting. Written and recorded in a small town called Little Forest, south of Sydney, the understated production on ‘Hallucinate’ puts Sherman’s soulful and dynamic vocal performance on full display.

The single was then mixed/mastered at The Kiln Studios in St Peter’s, Sydney, by Oly Sherman, Danial Natoli and Millennium Mastering.

“The writing of Hallucinate started just with my classical guitar and external to a studio, which I haven’t done in a long time. It’s a song about headspace and how to redirect focus out of the industry and back to where and how I listen to music. I took myself on a 2 week solo writing trip in which I read and cooked like crazy. Hallucinate was the result of stepping away from the chaos of my touring life, and created in an attempt to rejuvenate my love for my craft.” OLY SHERMAN

Pulling aural influences from international favourites Daniel CaesarOmarApollo and LoyleCarner, and closer to home with TashSultanaKaiit, and MattCorby, Sherman’s aurally decadent soundscapes are nestled in between that beautiful space of soul-fused jazz and RnB.

Since releasing his first single in 2017, Sherman has carved out a devout following of listeners yearning for his soul-laden songs. In that time he has seen break-out success from single ‘Homeboy’ which accumulated 400k+ streams alongside a steady fan base of monthly listeners on Spotify sitting at over 47k, Oly Sherman has proven his dynamism in spades.

With two sold out shows at iconic Sydney venue The Lansdowne, a performance at the Newtown Festival and notable support slots for Hein CooperSlum Sociable and Kim ChurchillOly Sherman is currently taking the stage across Australia’s East Coast with headline shows throughout August and September.

“My August/September tour is being played with a completely new band. I can’t wait to get back to some cities which I’ve previously had the most fun in. It’s an amazing chance to see and interact with a lot of fans who might not get to see us play regularly. I can’t wait to play my new chapter!” OLY SHERMAN
