beehive digital: Threads, Spotify, and [X]itter

Liz, our head of Digital Marketing and Social Strategy, breaks down three key updates happening in the digital world right now and offers some tips on how you can keep your own buzz strong!

There are so many updates and changes it’s often hard to keep track of – so this quick roundup is perfect reading length to length to get the buzz.

Instagram Threads – what, how and why?

To put it simply: Threads is Instagram’s new bestie and Twitter’s / X’s latest nemesis.

What is it?

It’s ‘a new way to share with text’ (…it’s Twitter, on Instagram).

How do you use it?

Download the app and sign up using your Instagram handle, and you’ll automatically get a handy-dandy link in your Instagram bio to your Threads channel.

Why do you need it? This part is important!

Aside from joining the party, Instagram rewards users who embrace its new features. So, if you’re on Threads you should see some algorithmic benefits on your Instagram newsfeed.

You don’t even need to use it regularly, but we do recommend that you at least create it and link it, and then reap the benefits of being a gold-star student of the algorithm.

Do your socials talk to Spotify?

One of the fastest ways to get what you want from Spotify is to tell people what you want them to do. Do you want them to add your music to their playlists, follow you, favourite your song or just stream it?

The more people you can bring back to Spotify from your social channels, the more the Spotify algorithm will work in your favour and then link you with similar artists via algorithmic-based programming, Spotify radio and recommended playlists.

Twitter rebrand – rate or hate?

Twitter has officially rebranded, and look… we don’t rate it. The cute lil blue bird has been sent to Tweet heaven, replaced by a – dare I say it – abrasive ‘X’. X has launched a new ad revenue share program not too dissimilar to the one YouTube pioneered, which I guess is a plus for eligible users.

All-in-all there’s not much to say here other than, see ya over on Threads!
