With a rich pedigree as a producer at the forefront of Australian music, boasting production & engineering credits with artists such as DMA’s, The Amity Affliction, Skeggs, Dune Rats, The Terrys, Pacific Avenue, Middle Kids & more, Central Coast’s Jack Nigro has today announced the completion & launch of his own boutique recording & creative space, ‘Sonora Studios’.
Located 10 minutes from the Central Coast beaches, ‘Sonora Studios’ is a two story, purpose built recording facility, featuring ‘Sound Space A’, an impeccably treated live room & acoustically isolated control room, alongside ‘Sound Space B’, a secondary production & mixing space, with additional living area & leisure facilities attached.
‘Sonora Studios’ contains a collection of world-class recording equipment, including hardware from Neumann, Avalon, SSL & Universal Audio, as well as a range of in-house backline from Orange, VOX, Fender, Ampeg & a 1975 Ludwig drum kit.
Initially based out of The Grove Studios, as the former in-house engineer & studio manager, Jack Nigro cut his teeth developing the next generation of Australian indie & rock bands, including Rum Jungle, DICE, The Terry’s, Vacations, Surf Trash & many more.
Jack’s unique production & mixing style, alongside his ability to work across a broad range of genres grew him to become one of Australia’s most sought after producers, with his collaborative approach ensuring that each artist he works with, has their ideal vision brought to life.
“Building my own studio was something I first wanted to do when I was about 15 years old. Having my own space that I, and hopefully others, love creating in every day is a very special experience. I have always liked studios to feel relaxed, intimate and calm.
I feel like this is the best environment to foster creativity and become completely immersed in what you are doing. We built the studio to cater for bands to be able to record live, a process I find very important for many of the artists I work with, and ensured our main live room space has a lively, organic sound to best capture acoustic instruments.” Jack Nigro, Sonora Studios
“One of my favorite aspects of the job is that we are creating bodies of art that will hopefully reach and positively impact many other people. Going to a show and hearing the crowd sing along. knowing you helped bring that to them is incredibly rewarding.
When I work with artists and bands one of the first things I like to do is hear their references. Find out what tones, energies and vibes excite them. I then combine all of these references to help build an exciting vision with the band.” Jack Nigro, Sonora Studios
‘Sonora Studios’ is designed to foster a professional & memorable recording experience for all artists who come through its doors. Jack Nigro’s philosophy of removing barriers to creative exploration is expressed throughout the calming & open environment that ‘Sonora Studios’ nurtures in both decor & design, as well as principles.
Jack Nigro & ‘Sonora Studios’ are also available for mixing & mastering services, with Jack holding a wealth of experience in both areas. Alongside the encouragement of future Australian musical talent, Jack also plans to use the space to mentor & develop other emerging engineers & producers.
With the first artists already through the doors, ‘Sonora Studios’ is well & truly open for business, with Jack energized & inspired to continue developing music that drives each artist to fulfill their creative ambitions & potential.
