Bad Pony release introspective single on love, ‘Catapults’ pulled from debut album ‘Forever Up & Coming’

Bad Pony have consistently ingrained themselves into the Australian indie-rock oeuvre. They deliver perfectly crafted, powerfully performed rock that has seen them embark on 12 national tours and 3 international showcases (SxSW, Canadian Music Week, Music Matters Singapore) in the time they’ve been riffing.

Their latest offering ‘Catapults’ is a retrospective on past lovers explored in a light of gratefulness for the experiences. It shows Bad Pony at their most comfortable, leaning into their effortless workings as a band who tease their forthcoming debut album, years in the making.

“Catapults is a cute little love song about being grateful for and acknowledging past lovers. My early dating days were full of intensity, mismatchedness and ultimately a bunch of people who left me – but I learned a lot from each of them which is a nice little takeaway.”Bad Pony

‘Catapults’ is the first single lifted from their forthcoming debut album Forever Up & Coming, scheduled for release February 10th.

They tease an all-encompassing album whose name is a tongue-in-cheek reference of the easily awarded phrases to bands who show promise. As a band who have played together for 10 years, they take ownership of this title and lean into their love of music, reconsidering their ideas of success. Forever Up & Coming melds cathartic rock tracks with pop hooks and 70s inspired instrumentation for a body of work that encapsulates all that makes Bad Pony great.

‘Catapults’, like the rest of the tracks of the Album was self-produced by the band with mixing by Alex L’Estrange (My Own Pet Radio, Jaguar Jonze, Hope D) and mastering by Ben Feggans (RÜFÜS DU SOL, Mallrat, Ngaiire, Eves Karydas).

Recorded at a mix between 301 Studios in Sydney, and a makeshift studio farm cottage in Pokolbin, as well as band members Sam Thomlinson’s home studio in Sydney and Jarred Young’s studio ‘Chomp Chomp’ at Russell Island QLD/Thornbury Vic.

Bad Pony have an established reputation and industry acclaim from breakout singles ‘Zombie’ (2.5M streams) and Down To You (1.7M streams). They’ve jammed alongside Aussie icons Gang of Youths, Kingswood, Angie McMahon, Teenage Dads, Ali Barter and more and raked support from industry tastemakers triple j, PBS, 4ZZZ, FBi, 2SER, 2XX, NME, Tonedeaf, Best Before, Amnplify, Milky, Pilerats, AU Review, Savage Thrills and more.

Known for delivering an explosive live show, Bad Pony will be bringing their live set to venues in a national tour in support of their debut Album, touring across the country with details soon to be announced

This latest release continues the mapping of Bad Pony who emerged after the concentrated past few years with a distillation of their sound, and their ethos ready to share with the world.
