There are so many updates and changes it’s often hard to keep track of – so this quick roundup is perfect reading length to length to get the buzz.
TikTok’s Shoppertainment is changing e-commerce… and we’re all victims of its magic!
TikTok has replaced its traditional marketing funnel with an “infinite loop” to change the way products are both discovered by and sold to users. Coined as Shopertainment, TikTok’s advertising platform is completely transforming the world of e-commerce. The loop sees users discovering new products and brands, making purchases, and then creating entertaining content that drives post-purchase engagement… and thus the infinite loop!
Instagram Live steps up!
The race is on between Instagram, TikTok and YouTube to be the best creator platform and look… keep on fightin’ fam, ’cause we’re here to eat the fruit! Instagram has introduced Live Producer, which will allow users to go live on Instagram using streaming software (OBS, Streamlabs, etc.) through a stream key.
This integration opens up production features outside the traditional phone camera, including additional cameras, external microphones and graphics. Although only available on web platform, it’s time to level up!!
Get ya biccies ’cause the Twitter tea is flowing!
According to an article in The Newyorker by former Twitter employee Jelani Cobb, titled “Why I Quit Elon Musk’s Twitter; A platform that once represented the new frontier of digital democracy is being used by the world’s richest man to troll us all,” things are hitting a serious low.
In the last month, Twitter has “shed two-thirds of its workforce; lost half of its top hundred advertisers, including Citigroup, Merck pharmaceuticals, and Chevrolet; witnessed the rushed introduction and abrupt cancellation of a laughable subscription-payment scheme; reinstated the account of a former President who used the platform to promote a violent attack on the United States Capitol; and lost at least more than a million users.” Oof, good thing Instagram has introduced notes!
Bonus!
Twitter exits stage left and Instagram Notes takes the lead role.
If you haven’t yet seen it tucked away in your DM’s section, Instagram has launched a a new feature called ‘notes’. Here you can conveniently find out what your neighbour made for dinner, who’s started Crossfit and is now superior to you in every way and what your little cousin thinks of her ex-boyfriend after their dramatic breakup at the school dance. For real though, it’s basically Twitter on Instagram and it’s timed perfectly (… conspiracy, anyone?).
