Continuing to blaze their own trail within the thriving pop scene out on the West Coast, SUPATHICK excitedly announce their new EP project, In The Thick Of It. The arrival of this EP captures SUPATHICK at a particularly fresh and vibrant creative peak, driven by some insatiable songwriting and a savvy grasp on texture and tone.
Previewing the forthcoming record, SUPATHICK shares brand new single ‘Own My Mind’ – an example of the different territories Christian Zappia is letting his songwriting travel to. While retaining the fun and vibrancy of earlier material, ‘Own My Mind’ also envelops some darker tones that add depth and richness to the overall product.
Recorded with Sam Ford (Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, POND, Birds of Tokyo, Art vs. Science) at Perth’s Tone City Recording and released via the recently launched Tone City Records label, ‘Own My Mind’ draws inspiration from The 1975 as well as some rich ‘80s electro-pop sounds that filtered into Zappia’s creative process. As he describes, the single is about becoming wholly enveloped by the thought of someone else.
“‘Own My Mind’ is about that one person that has such a strong hold over you that you think about them when your mind is full, and when it’s completely empty. Like clockwork, they always turn up no matter how many distractions you seek. It’s when you feel like your life revolves around someone with no questions asked.”
CHRISTIAN ZAPPIA, SUPATHICK
In a small amount of time, SUPATHICK have graduated beyond being a fresh buzzed about WA group, to becoming a formidable force with an energetic live presence to match. Exceeding 40,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone, and over 19,000 monthly channel views on YouTube, the growth of SUPATHICK as a unit has been nothing short of impressive in recent years.
Having cut their teeth on stages supporting the likes of Ocean Alley, Great Gable, The Babe Rainbow; as well as numerous headline dates that have grown their fanbase exponentially, SUPATHICK are a dynamic act that have been turning heads of fans and industry alike.
To celebrate the release of the In The Thick of It EP, SUPATHICK will be performing two special shows in WA this September – bittersweet, as they will also double as farewell shows, with the band making the move east to Brisbane.
