Fox DeRoche previews the ROUND-A-BOUT EP, with new single ‘TAP OUT’

After making a strong impact early in 2022 with his single ‘SOC PUPPET’, Melbourne songwriter and performer Fox DeRoche has followed the momentum up with a brand new track in ‘TAP OUT’. Bright and shimmering with its indie pop sensibilities, the single kicks off DeRoche’s next exciting chapter – the release of his debut project, the ROUND-A-BOUT EP.

Delivering seven tracks of cleverly produced indie-pop, dashed with slick moments of electro and funk, the ROUND-A-BOUT project is the perfect statement of intent from this young artist. And as a new sneak peek of the record, a song like ‘TAP OUT’ serves as a perfect way for Fox DeRoche to remind listeners why his name is one to remember as 2022 rolls out.

Recorded between Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, ‘TAP OUT’ saw Fox DeRoche work with Gerard Sidhu (Strange Talk) and Lionel Towers (Gypsy & The Cat) on production. The end result is a vibrant and cohesive collection of ideas that capture the Fox DeRoche sound brilliantly.

“The single ‘TAP OUT’ was written with the early ‘70s disco vibe in mind. Taking inspiration from artists such as The Bee Gees and The Doobie Brothers, with hints of new age technology and spiced up samples. Its heavy disco inspiration is very prominent, with beautiful string melodies and vintage harmonies. The song’s meaning is quite vague, so as to let the audience find their own meaning in the song, yet its main story is about a sketchy relationship and that sometimes a relationship can feel unfair to a certain partner. Although the lyrics may seem a tad morbid, that doesn’t take away from the banging vibe from the song ‘TAP OUT’.”
