Ra Ra Viper unveil high octane new track ‘Mick’s Song’

WA 5-piece Ra Ra Viper are back with their timeless new single ‘Mick’s Song’. Paired with strumming guitars and a pulsating drum beat, this new track coincides with their announcement of their first ever East Coast tour of Australia. Mick’s Song’ will thrill fans of alt-rock rock acts like The Strokes, The Terrys and Spacey Jane.

“Mick’s Song’ is based loosely around the notion of anxiety that comes after having a big night and having a vivid memory of what occurred the night before, sometimes referred to as ‘hangxiety’ (a hangover coupled with anxiety).” Ra Ra Viper

The lyrical content of the song sees the band deep dive into topics of friendship, anxiety, and relationships. The catalyst stems from a Christmas in July dinner party where the members performed at a sharehouse where a few of the group members were living.

“The party ended up being one of those parties that was talked about for weeks after even by people who did not attend, and not necessarily for the best of reasons. All seriousness aside, the night was significantly memorable for all attendees, and this song is dedicated to that fact, and most particularly the memory of the morning after when there was a large amount of anxiety amongst all, whilst attempting to pick up the pieces from the night before.” Ra Ra Viper

Mick's Song

Recorded at Debaser Studios with Andy Lawson (Death By Denim, Eskimo Jo, End of Fashion), the resulting gritty sound of ‘Mick’s Song’ was mastered by Grammy award winning engineer William Bowden (Living End) at King Willy Sound.

“The song was written in a style that has started to become a staple of the Ra Ra Viper writing process. This involves getting the song to a mature enough state that it is playable at smaller gigs, and observing the response from the crowd and altering the song to suit how well the crowd perception seems. We feel this style allows us to capture our live sound more accurately, and allows us to build our live show in a way that is better received by punters.” Ra Ra Viper

With an EP and a string of singles under their belt, Ra Ra Viper are thrilled to return to the stage in their home state of WA, plus playing shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

“Whilst we are working hard at improving our studio recorded sound, our live show has always been our bread and butter, and we feel ‘Mick’s Song’ captures this the best out of any release we have put out so far. For the upcoming tour, we are extremely excited to show some of our East Coast listeners what a sweaty Ra Ra Viper show is all about. We have enjoyed success in WA primarily through our live performances, and we hope that playing these shows will only allow us to continue our success across other parts of Australia.”
