South Summit return from debut headliner tour with flowing single ‘Promise Me’

Having traveled the circumference of Australia for their debut headline tour, South Summit have returned from packed rooms across the east coast, Perth & regional WA, not wasting a moment to release their next single ‘Promise Me’.

Awash with reverb, ‘Promise Me’ is a rolling tune that blends groove-laden rhythms with Isaiah Reuben’s soulful voice, exploring feelings of excitement when falling for the rebellious & idiosyncratic side of someone new.

It was conceived in 2021 during an evening jam, with the band returning to trusted & acclaimed producer Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane, Tired Lion) workshop, fine tune & piece together the track.

The single is aptly slated to be released in NAIDOC Week, with the band having been tagged by triple j  as “indie rock role models for reconciliation”. South Summit has continued to grow in comfort with exploring their indigenous and multicultural heritage, maturing alongside each milestone.

This progression permeates their music & their work amongst communities. The band will be performing in schools, prisons & youth detention centers across WA for NAIDOC week, acting as a visual representation of hope, change & positivity for those inside.

“‘Promise Me’ is about falling for the rebelliousness of someone and hoping they will give you that part of them. It’s about having an itch to be different from everyone else. A side that gives us adrenaline only makes things exciting.”
Isaiah (Zaya) Reuben, South Summit

“Recording ‘Promise Me’ started from a jam us boys had back in 2021. All of us love that soul rock and groove feel and I think that’s what we aimed for in this song. Writing a tune for people to dance to is something we considered when in the process of making it, having groovy rhythms and a soulful voice played a major part in this one. We were so stoked to have Dave Parkin (Blackbird Studio) bring it to life, we all enjoyed recording this one and I think you guys will like it.”
Nehemiah (Nemo) Reuben, South Summit

Previous single ‘Tired of Waiting’ launched South Summit from their precipice of talent to a breakout act – ones to watch for 2022. Tastemakers triple j added the track to full rotation, supporting it across on-air & online features, as well as a collection of positive reviews.

The track was also backed by triple j Unearthed, who premiered the music video, before it was added to MTV AustraliaSpotify editorial also followed the release, with ‘Local Noise’‘Fresh Finds’ ‘Original Storytellers’ adds. This culminated in the band filling rooms on their tour debut, packing East Coast stages in cities the young members hadn’t even set foot in previously.

Not ones to rest on their laurels & with energy abound, South Summit have scheduled their next adventure already, today announcing a run of East Coast dates throughout September, peaking with a hometown performance in Perth.

Their first ticketed headline performances over east will begin on the Sunshine Coast in QLD, before the band hits Springtime Festival on the Gold Coast. Headed south, they then grace stages across Byron Bay, Caringbah, Wollongong, Sydney & Melbourne, before heading home to wrap up the tour at the iconic Indian Ocean Hotel in Perth.

“This trip over east is definitely the most exciting thing that we have booked so far and we are keen to get back on the road. We are all stoked to go on another one after our recent Tired of Waiting Australia Tour in May/June. We are returning to Sydney, Melbourne and Byron, but adding debut dates in Sunshine Coast, Wollongong and Caringbah, with new venues in all cities. We are also playing at Springtime Festival in the Gold Coast, another huge achievement as it’s another festival in 2022 with some of Aussie’s best live acts.”
