Humble Armada release invigorating new single ‘September 24’

Soaked in dulcet tones & an emotional maturity beyond their years, ‘September 24’ allows Perth quintet Humble Armada to combine ambience, evocation & grief into a scintillating new single. Hauntingly powerful, the track builds with dreamy synth undertones, driven by a grooving bass & rhythm section, with reverberating lead lines sitting alongside layered, ethereal vocals from front-person Matt Simich.

With an array of influences from The War on Drugs, The Brian Jonestown Massacre Babe Rainbow, the band are channeling post-rock, Americana & shoe-gaze elements to establish their own brand of heartfelt rock.

“The music we’re starting to release now is easily our most emotional. We’re definitely shooting for an audience response that has undertones of nostalgia, loss, and memory. September 24 is one of those tracks we quickly decided would be a lead single of ours and probably the most excited we’ve been for a release” Humble Armada

“Our new LP has a dreamier feel with a greater focus on ambient sound, and one that we think appeals to a wider audience of music lovers. Our new music can be compared to The War on Drugs, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Beach House.” Humble Armada

Meandering down to Yallingup in WA’s Margaret River region, the band holed up in a makeshift studio and tracked both ‘September 24’ & their upcoming album themselves. Whilst a learning curve in of itself, the chance to delve deeper into the creative process & pursue alternative recording methods was more than worth the sweat, grit & hard work employed to self-produce a release.

Once tracked, the files were handed off to Andrew Lawson (Death By Denim, Noah Dillon) at Debaser Studios who pieced it together into the glorious mix heard today. Finishing touches were then put on by Simon Struthers (Something For Kate, Eskimo Joe, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets) who mastered the track.

“We record our music DIY at a private studio in Yallingup, WA, and trek down there when we can find the time to get our tracks down. We produce the music ourselves, so it’s always a bit of a learning curve for us, but it makes us more involved and gives us a lot of creative opportunities”.
