Tapping into her own unique and utterly loveable brand of indie folk-rock, Yazmindi adds an addictive layer of swagger in latest single ‘Talk’.
The Byron Bay singer-songwriter sings with incredible precision over layered and punchy instrumentation. The combination of deft guitar work, clean drums, a masterful mix and Yazmindi’s signature harmonica flair results in a song that is undeniably and unforgettably Yazmindi.
“Speaking of what inspired this single, ‘Talk’ is my societal view of the pressures of modern dating that I wrote when I turned 18 and started going out for the first time. It’s about my experience observing people’s interactions and it’s my take on the image based society of today.”
Yazmindi
This latest single sees Yazmindi sing with a half smirk, with a handful more attitude as she steps into her own power. Her confidence and self-assuredness is palpable and will have you walking with a new-found swagger in your step. Channeling modern-day Miley Cyrus in her current rock-era, you’ll be itching to hit repeat.
‘Talk’ was co-produced with renowned producer Mark Myers (The Middle East, Greta Stanley, Emma Louise) who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the production process. Having 4 QMUSIC awards (including best album and best song), a musicNT award and an ARIA nomination under his belt, Myers unrivaled expertise adds an elegant touch to Yazmindi’s latest song.
Whether performing at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas (twice), Woodford Folk Festival or playing at the local Byron Flea Market, Yazmindi’s sound is a far-reaching crowd-favourite. A cornerstone of her musical prowess is her ability to craft authentic stories and evocative soundscapes that build around her swelling harmonies. Yazmindi is one of the next generation of singer-songwriters that build upon the previous successes of iconic front runners, Miley Cyrus, Missy Higgins, and Kimbra.
Yazmindi has proved herself as an unstoppable force, leading the next generation of indie alternative, roots and country in a uniquely youthful way, firmly proclaiming her artistry in the contemporary. A testament to her versatility, her repertoire expertly dances across genres, dabbling in pop, rock and soul with her unique harmonica and stomp box sprinkled throughout.
2022 is shaping up to be a monumental year for Yazmindi as she announces the release of her sophomore EP, out this August. After an intensely formative couple of years spent honing her creativity, moving across the country and, most recently, experiencing first-hand the devastation of the NSW/QLD flooding, she is channelling all her passion and drive into this focussed project.
Born in Cooktown, tropical North QLD, Yaz is now based in Byron Bay. She is the breath of fresh air we didn’t know we needed. She keeps it real, she keeps it fun and most importantly she makes exceptional music.
