After relishing in the success of their debut EP ‘Kawaii’, Fremantle’s Ra Ra Viper return in 2022 with ‘Big Surrender’, a track that “serves as a sly observation on the peaks and valleys of any modern relationship”. The new single once again demonstrates their creative energy and solid dynamic as a young 5 piece band on the rise.
Teaming up with producer Andrew Lawson (Eskimo Joe, Death By Denim, Gyroscope) at Debaser Studios in Perth, ‘Big Surrender’ showcases the band’s distinct blend of alt and garage rock reminiscent of their musical influences, such as: Hockey Dad, Foals, Kings Of Leon and The Black Keys.
It’s becoming apparent that Ra Ra Viper are definitely the next Western Australian flag-flyers who have their sights set on touring the East Coast of Australia this year, after playing “Out and About Festival” supporting Death By Denim and San Cisco in January. They were also confirmed to support Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Great Gable on New Years Eve, however due to lockdown restrictions the show was postponed.
“The process of making big surrender originated from a jam session and exploring a few different chord progressions. We wanted to keep the track relevant to our sound which we have been developing whilst still giving glimpses of our many influences. Being in a band with 5 members all with different influences can often make creative decisions slightly more difficult but with this track I think we all came together and had little parts that reflect each of us and the music we enjoy.”

They will celebrate the release of their new single ‘Big Surrender’ in their home state at two massive single launch parties, with support from Dice, Spici Water, Fat Face on March 4, and The Morsels on March 5.
“Our upcoming launch shows are some of our most ambitious yet and we can’t wait to travel to regional WA and show off what we have been working on. We strongly believe that our live set is a staple of Ra Ra Viper and we love being able to work the crowd throughout our sets, seeing people enjoy themselves out the front definitely makes us excited and being able to share these nights with them is the best feeling ever.”
