Much like her debut single, ‘Deep Blue Sea’ released in January, ‘Floodgates’ showcases Sami Cartwright’s delicate country lilt and unique style of songwriting.
She is inspired by the natural beauty and the pressures of growing up in a small isolated town in the middle of the Royal National Park in Sydney’s South.
Produced and mixed by multiple ARIA and CMAA award winner Matt Fell (Morgan Evans, Sara Storer, Fanny Lumsden, Brad Cox) with mastering by Grammy Award winner William Bowden (Kylie Minogue, Living End) at Love Hz Studios, ‘Floodgates’ had a dream team bringing it to life.
“Floodgates was written in only an hour. After creating the guitar melody the lyrics flowed so easily and I knew it was one I wanted to take to the studio. I am very proud of the finished song.” Sami Cartwright
Blending her love of Country and smart indie-pop overtones with folkier roots, Sami Cartwright’s songs are raw and introspective, her lyrics deeply personable but relatable. 2021 marks the beginning for this young and talented female singer-songwriter.
