Oh My My returns with yearning new single, ‘Lover, Lover’

Not content to let 2020 stop their progress, Sydney’s Oh My My continue to power ahead when it comes to new music, today unveiling their latest single, ‘Lover, Lover’.

As the duo’s second release for the year, ‘Lover, Lover’ serves up another gut punch of emotion, presented with expertly crafted production and vocal work.

Leaning slightly into ballad territory, ‘Lover, Lover’ doesn’t abandon Oh My My’s proven knack for playing with darker sounds and tones; instead blending the two in relaying the experience of heartbreak against a striking soundscape.

“You’re not coming home tonight, lover, lover…” – as the opening line of the song, the listener knows exactly what type of ride they’re in for. ‘Lover, Lover’ ties together threads of nostalgia, regret and yearning as the vocals pine for days not shrouded in heartache.

For Oh My My’s Tim Quaife, the song stemmed from a very real experience.

Recorded at Sam Thomlinson’s home studio in Sydney before being mixed by Northeast Party House’s Malcolm Besley and mastered by Studio 301’s Leon Zervos (Troye Sivan, Peking Duk), ‘Lover, Lover’ sits well in their wider body of work. Showing of Thomlinson’s talents as a producer and both he and Quaife’s thriving dynamic writing partnership.

For the ‘Lover, Lover’ music video, Thomlinson took the reins as director for the first time. Featuring Neven Connelly and Cassandra Merwood, Thomlinson’s unique narrative came to life.
