If you thought Robert Palmer’s pop classic ‘Addicted To Love’ couldn’t be elevated any more, Sydney’s Dom Youdan is here to show you just where it can be taken. The songwriter has returned with a striking reimagination of the original, bringing ‘Addicted To Love’ into a romantic, dreamy indie soundscape.
Having captured the attention of crowds throughout 2019 with the release of the emphatic ‘Pockets’ and ‘Is Your Lover Still Cool?’, Youdan’s latest release is fun but emotional. Working with Hauskey on production and mixing out of Sydney’s Linear Studios, Youdan lays his own touch on the track beautifully.
Creating something new without forgetting the impact of the original was not a task lost on Youdan, nor ignored. Taking Palmer’s lyrics into the afterglow of the long night before, this refresh of ‘Addicted To Love’ is one that would be the perfect accompaniment to a hazy return for anyone who has been caught up in the throes of new relationships or encounters.
“I wanted to create an altogether new anthem; one that slowly crept up on you and met nostalgia head on. This is my homage to a track that has inspired my artistry, as well as being the soundtrack to many a late night (and very early morning).”
