Opening with glistening guitars and vocals that simply shimmer, Sunrose have returned with another piece of music set to soundtrack these heady summer days – ‘Too High To Say Hello’.
Starting their 2019 off on a buoyant, colourful note, the Byron Bay four piece navigate textured sounds and melodic weaves and turns on this new single – a strong addition to their ever growing body of work.
Since the release of their Strawberry Wine EP last year, Sunrose have been capitalising on the amount of great momentum swelling around them, dominating live shows up and down the east coast, while also reaping great responses from new audiences and industry alike.
Where the Strawberry Wine EP further stoked fires of curiosity about this band of brothers who had come through with well crafted melodies, hypnotic arrangements and enigmatic lyricism, ‘Too High To Say Hello’ sits proudly as an extension of this; the next chapter in the Sunrose story.
“We recorded Too High to Say Hello ourselves at Julian’s studio No Wave. It was a new process for us recording each instrument individually and slowly building the song piece by piece which gave us more freedom to focus on how each part interrelated”.
The band continues to warp their sounds and bring a fresh energy to their new music. Taking early influences from psych luminaries including Pink Floyd and The Shadows, while traipsing the similar territory homegrown heroes Tame Impala and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have taken international, Sunrose look ahead to travelling down a similar path in 2019.
A New EP On The Horizon…
Recorded at No Waves Studio’s with Julian Abbott (Borneo, Donny Love, Skeggs) ‘Too High To Say Hello’ continues to inject just the right amount of laid back charm into their meticulously crafted psych rock arrangements. Once again channeling a lifestyle of sun-kissed relaxation surrounded by nature and the water into concise and layered soundscapes.
‘Too High To Say Hello’, taken from Sunrose’s forthcoming new EP, is a striking new effort from the band who are entering the new year with fresh resolve and a strong creative direction.
