Melbourne metalcore stalwarts THE AMITY AFFLICTION have unveiled their latest single, ‘BLEED’, continuing the build-up to their highly anticipated new studio album, HOUSE OF CARDS. Released during the band’s ongoing regional tour, the track signals a fresh and fiercely authentic chapter in the band’s evolving sound — a move that underscores their ongoing influence in Australian music.
A Personal Perspective on Public Perception
While the previous single, ‘HOUSE OF CARDS’, offered a poignant reflection on songwriter Joel Birch’s relationship with his mother and siblings, ‘BLEED’ shifts focus to navigating perception versus reality.
Birch explains:
“This song is a bit of a fuck you to people online who leave comments like they know me personally… I bleed the way I bleed is my way of saying that I am the way I am, not the way I am perceived to be.”
With ‘BLEED’, Birch transforms frustration into art, blending raw emotion with the band’s signature ferocity — a balance that continues to define their contributions to Australian music.
The Visual Story
Accompanying the single is a music video directed by Daniel Daly, capturing the song’s intensity and themes with striking visuals. The video further amplifies the track’s impact, offering fans a layered perspective on identity, perception, and authenticity.
Continuing Impact in Australian Music
‘BLEED’ is more than just a single; it’s a statement. It underscores THE AMITY AFFLICTION’s ability to evolve while remaining true to their core identity, demonstrating why they continue to be a defining voice in Australian music.
As fans anticipate the full release of HOUSE OF CARDS, the single and its video provide a glimpse of the emotional intensity and creative depth the band brings to the modern Australian music scene.
