Will Baker returns with heartfelt indie-pop single ‘Would It Kill You (Just To Hold Me)’

Sydney based singer/songwriter Will Baker adds to the momentum he has built over the last 12 months with ‘Would It Kill You (Just To Hold Me)’; a beautifully written love song full to the brim with infectious melodies, out in the world today.

Releasing his first single in 2023, Will Baker has gone from strength to strength since the release of his debut single ‘Lend’ - receiving praise from all corners of the music industry and building a dedicated fan base across the country. ‘Would It Kill You (Just To Hold Me)’ is a step up on all fronts, demonstrating Will’s impeccable songwriting abilities at full force;  with wave after wave of catchy hooks,  a dynamic instrumental and a passionate vocal performance from Baker.

Thematically, Baker reflects on the track stating that “ ‘Would It Kill You (Just To Hold Me)’is really about just wanting to be loved and never giving up on the idea of love. Growing up questioning why people can't just love you for who you are and realising that there's a reason people end up in or out of your life. It's almost the idea that there is someone that's got a bigger plan for you but the song is about the feelings in those moments when your living the ups and downs.”

Produced and mixed by Luke Bertoz (Andy Bull, Lime Cordiale, DMA’s) and Ethan Reginato (The Avalanches, Thunderfox, Gang Of Youths)the track also features co-writing credits from fellow artist (and former finalist on The Voice Australia), Charlie Pittman. As detailed by Will, the track immediately stood out as one of his strongest songs to date as soon as he and the team started work on the track.

“I knew this was my favorite song I’d written within the first 10 minutes of being in the studio. There was a moment Ethan and I looked at each other in the studio and we just knew it was gonna be special. I think showing to people and them also getting excited about it really made us confident with the track” WILL BAKER

The song arrives alongside an official lyric video, which features Will jamming out to the track by the seaside:
