Pat Tierney releases stunning new folk album, Lost In The Haze

Sunshine Coast singer-songwriter Pat Tierney has just released his brand new album, Lost In The Haze. A stunning collection of tracks that range across folk, blues, roots, and soul, Lost In The Haze is a warm and profound journey through the mind and heart of the Queensland artist.

Brimming with gorgeous guitar melodies that lean at times towards plucky and twangy, others towards a haunting echo, and others yet again towards the most peaceful and comforting of strums, the album was recorded with renowned roots maestro and ARIA award-winning Paulie B (George, The Beautiful Girls, Bobby Alu) at Yama-Nui Studios on the Sunny Coast. On the record’s genesis and the process of bringing it to its final form, Pat has said:

“I was deeply inspired to push a little further with this record and experiment, try some things we didn’t do on the last record. Paulie B my dear friend and producer was the perfect wingman to navigate this album. We just chipped away over a three year period and the album started to take its shape and meaning. I’m a big believer in letting the songs do the talking and taking it where it needs to go… If you give it enough time and dedication, the album and songs will reveal themselves to you.”  PAT TIERNEY

A songsmith and poet in all his endeavours, Pat Tierney brings an old-school approach to modern themes with Lost In The Haze, exploring matters of love, loss, hope, and social justice. Speaking on some of the themes into which the record delves, Pat says:

“It’s a pretty emotional record, I tapped in pretty deeply to where I was at… I think it’s something any artist goes through throughout their career. I had to be ok with feeling lost and that’s where ‘Lost In The Haze’ came from… My life was wonderful but I was struggling internally and music was the escape, the medicine and the therapy. Knowing there was a light, but I needed to sift through the haze and the mess on my own to get there. Most of the songs are an expression of that trip and journey. A lot of the songs are interconnected as well, lyrically and narrative-wise. The album kind of interweaves throughout.”  PAT TIERNEY

Pat's sophomore album Red Moon, released back in 2019, received a slew of positive reviews with features on ABC radio, Double J and community radio across the country. As it stands, the album has clocked nearly 2 million streams across digital streaming platforms since its release.

Since releasing his debut record Wild World Blues in 2015, Pat Tierney has supported the live shows of artists such as The Beautiful Girls, Ash Grunwald, Bobby Alu, and more recently, Canadian blues and folk maestro, Harry Manx. He has also played at beloved music festivals all around the country, including Queenscliff Music Festival (VIC), Caloundra Music Festival (QLD), Blues on Broadbeach (QLD) & The West Australian Guitar Festival (WA).

Pat Tierney has earned a tidy sum of songwriting honours, including three Queensland Music Award finalist nods over the years, with one in 2015 following the release of his debut record, as well as in 2023 for the Blues & Roots category, and then most recently in 2024 for the Folk category. Maintaining 12K monthly listeners on Spotify, and with previous tracks such as ‘Angels’ boasting nearly 1 million streams on the platform, Pat Tierney’s brand new album Lost In The Haze is a stunning body of work set to reiterate his impressive standing in the Australian folk & roots scenes.

In celebration of the new album, Pat Tierney will bring his gorgeous tunes, both new and old alike, to live audiences across the country, with an album launch tour set to hit stages in Queensland and Western Australia over the coming months.
