With a blistering sound that blends psychedelic-rock energy with defined indie-rock sensibilities and arrangements, Newcastle trio MIDWAY release their anticipated sophomore EP, INTERROGRATION.
A collection of music that demonstrates the evolution and clear chemistry that has bolstered within the group, INTERROGATION is a record that marks an exciting new chapter for Midway and their growing fanbase alike.
Featuring singles ‘Tuffen Up’ and the band’s recent release ‘Silhouette’, the INTERROGATION EP is equal parts energetic, heavy and emotional, without sacrificing the great sense of fun that has marked Midway’s earlier material, harking back to their 2021 debut, ‘Red P’s’.
Across tracks like ‘Tuffen Up’ and ‘Silhouette’, Midway plays with form and foundation of sounds that the band has felt comfortable with in the past. Confident musicianship meets fresh experimentation, with rhythms and pacing expertly arranged and delivered to match the lyrical punch of each song.
Further, EP tracks like ‘As It Is’ and ‘Stitch Up’ bolster the innate charm that Midway have been weaving, both in the studio and on stages up and down the East Coast in recent years. Within the band, listeners are able to hear shared musical influences come together with individually talented musicians – Jordan Snowden (vocals, guitars), Mason Capiello (bass, vocals) and Kade Winfield (drums).
“The majority of the EP was written in 2024 through Jordan bringing a foundation for a song then Kade and Mason adding their additions to it. Throughout the collaboration more and more experimentation continued to happen as the band became more comfortable trying different things to make the body of work overall better. Once Midway got into the studio, Gareth Hudson was extremely accommodating to the boy’s interest in spending time discovering new sounds and finding what works.” MIDWAY
Since their formation in 2018, Midway have become a favourite mainstay within their own music community, while also landing on radars of more music fans beyond, thanks to support slots for the likes of Pacific Avenue, Eliza and The Delusionals, Le Shiv, Bootleg Rascal and more.
In 2023, the band released their debut EP, Happy As Larry – a record that landed to a positive response, built on a bed of influences primed for fans of artists including Fontaines DC, Tame Impala and These New South Whales.
Midway will be performing throughout March, a series of perfect opportunities to become immersed in the space of INTERROGATION.
