Lune Ranger shares nostalgic new release, ‘1979’

Victorian folk singer-songwriter Lune Ranger has just released a nostalgic new single titled ‘1979’. A sunny, sweet and breezy track which oozes the sensations of new love and mysterious attraction, ‘1979’ was produced in Mildura’s Sound House Musik by Marcus van Hennig, with co-production by Levi Smith AKA Lune Ranger himself.

Born of romantic beachside imagery, and the feelings which arise from chance encounters and love at first sight, ‘1979’ strikes a balance between the familiar and the fascinating– undoubtedly drawing, from its listener, a sense of nostalgia and yearning alike;

“When I was writing ‘1979’ I was picturing being in an old classic car cruising down the California beaches, windows down and wind in my hair. The song transformed into a romantic setting with two strangers crossing each other’s paths and letting the smoke-filled night take them to a beautiful future together. I love the way this song makes me feel and puts me right back in that blissful setting every time it plays, and I hope that can resonate to people all over the world and place them [with]in the same feeling.”  LUNE RANGER

Sonically complementary to its own themes and imagery, the single is characterised by a velvety quality; smooth in its vocals and instrumentals alike. Speaking on the creative process through which ‘1979’ came to be, Levi Smith expressed:

“‘1979’ was super fun to create in the studio. Immersing ourselves into the vibe that the song brings gave a warm feeling every time we would be working on it. I had a few friends help out with instruments such as keyboard and drums, and it was a blast working together creating such a catchy track and all enjoying the process with smiles on our faces. I have been sitting on this song waiting for the right moment to release, so I’m really excited to get it out into the world for people to enjoy and make memories to.”  LUNE RANGER

Following 2023’s ‘Starlight’ and 2024’s ‘Blue Skies’, ‘1979’ is only the third single released so far by Lune Ranger, who has previously opened live shows for the likes of Caravãna Sun and Kim Churchill.

With further experience from past projects under his belt, a drive to create and share his art, and a knack for writing charming folk music you can’t help but fall head over heels for, Lune Ranger is ready to show the country just what he’s capable of in 2025.
