Maintaining consistency as one of the West Coast’s best forces in indie rock, Fremantle five-piece FIGUREHEAD return for a brand new year of music with the track ‘SHOTGUN’.

Following on from a string of strong releases throughout 2025, the latest from Figurehead repositions the band as ones to watch, not to mention an exciting indication of what is still ahead of these talented musicians.

Recorded with frequent collaborator Dave Parkin (South Summit, Spacey Jane) at Blackbird Sound Studios, ‘Shotgun’ comes layered with personality and attitude; the perfect example of a song that represents Figurehead’s chemistry as a band, as well as evolution in their songwriting.

‘Shotgun’ makes its arrival for those who refuse to let the summer vibes go, built upon insatiable grooves.

“Despite its feel-good, summery feel, ‘Shotgun’ contains lyrical depth and explores themes of self-improvement in the face of daily struggles and addictions. The song’s protagonist ultimately chooses love over fear, and gives insight to those struggling with external dependencies.” FIGUREHEAD

As Figurehead looks forward to 2026 with enthusiasm and curiosity, the WA group will be continuing to follow new influences and sounds in fleshing out their already well-built body of work.

Bringing in a diverse range of sounds that fuse alternative rock with contemporary indie pop, Figurehead have developed a strong following online and in the live space.

Cutting their teeth as headliners through WA venues as well as supporting the likes of Dear SundayDICESan CiscoStone Temple Pilots and LIVE, Figurehead have grown support from all corners of the industry throughout their career.

Their music has earned praise from online tastemakers as well as radio by way of Triple J UnearthedRTR and 4ZZZ, while their current streaming numbers has the band enjoying over 50,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, with the total continuing to grow.
