Fresh off of a twelve-month stint supporting & touring with The Vaccines, Teenage Joans, The VANNS, Dear Seattle, Rum Jungle & Stumps, as well as lighting up festival stages at Laneway, NYE On The Hill, Spin Off & more, Adelaide’s favorite indie-rockers The Tullamarines return with their first taste of new music for 2024.
Titled ‘Loser’, the track covers the stagnating feeling of waiting; for things to change, things to get better, a better day or just a different mood. Singer Angus Purvis encourages listeners to revel in the quirkiness of the track, to push those feelings aside & go after the things they want - no need to keep waiting!
“‘Loser’ is a song about waiting. Waiting for things to change, for things to get better, waiting for a solution to fall in your lap - or rather how unproductive that can be. When you’re stuck in this floating feeling it’s easy to feel like a loser. Focusing on the things you don’t have and how much happier you think you would be with them. ‘Loser’ quirkily pokes fun at these feelings and encourages the listener to push them aside and go after the things they want”

Forming during a writing session, the band metamorphisised two different demos to form the track heard today. Pulling inspiration from the perspective of different people in a relationship, speaking to one another about how they feel & digging deeper into how those feelings were affecting each other, ‘Loser’ was driven by this stimulus, offering differing perspectives on a singular issue.
“‘Loser’ started as two different demos we were working on that slowly morphed together. We were inspired by the idea of writing a song about 2 people in a relationship talking to one another to delve deeper into how the feelings we were writing about affected both parties. This is what drove the creation of Loser.
We recorded over 3 days at Lucinda’s studio collaborating with Izaac Wilson over zoom, this was the first time we’ve worked with a producer and it was a really exciting experience for all of us.”

In celebration of the release of ‘Loser’, The Tullamarines will be hitting the highways and heading up to Brisbane, to appear at an unofficial BIGSOUND showcase for ‘Made In Adelaide’ on September 5th. This begins a run of shows that sees them then head south to Sydney & Melbourne for headline performances, before culminating in a hometown single release show at Adelaide’s Jive Bar on September 28th.
“We’ve had the best time on the road this year with Stumps and Dear Seattle. we cannot wait to get back out across state lines again and share what we’ve been working on at our headline shows.” ANGUS PURVIS, THE TULLAMARINES
