Continuing to blaze a trail that is completely their own Sydney’s CHILLCHENEY have returned with brand new music in ‘LET IT OUT’, taken from their upcoming EP ‘WORLDS COLLIDE’ set to be released September 24th.

Following on from both ‘Underground’ and ‘Cool Breeze’ so far in 2026, the group led by Wiradjuri rapper Lance Cheney have shown audiences different elements of their creativity, bolstered by a core love for alternative hip hop and powerful instrumentation.

Recorded at the Kameygal Music Studio inside Koori Radio, CHILLCHENEY worked with Stefan Du Randt (Mac Miller, Thelma Plum, Vera Blue) and longtime collaborator Mitaru McGaughey on production and engineering. ‘Let It Out’ came together during a songwriting camp that took place in Wisemans Ferry with vocalist Sahaja.  Sahaja, who featured on ‘Cool Breeze’, returns on this track bringing her signature energy and evocative nature to CHILLCHENEY’s steadfast rhythms and trademark flow.

“From the beginning, we wanted to create something that felt energetic and uplifting while still carrying an emotional message. The whole writing process came together really naturally. Harvey, our guitarist, was especially excited to write the guitar solo, and once that was added, everything seemed to click into place.

We also made some production changes along the way. The original drum parts were more conventional, but we realised they were taking attention away from what made the song special. By simplifying the drums, we created more space for the vocals and guitar to shine, allowing the emotion and energy of the song to come through in a much stronger way.” CHILLCHENEY

Of the track itself, CHILLCHENEY describe ‘Let It Out’ as a moment for listeners to purge emotions to and to also find some solace in.

“Let It Out’ is about giving yourself permission to express what you’re feeling instead of bottling everything up. We all go through moments where we carry emotions that become too heavy to hold onto, and this song is a reminder that it’s okay to let them out. While the lyrics come from a personal place, the upbeat, dance-driven energy gives the message a sense of hope and release.”  CHILLCHENEY

Released alongside the single, CHILLCHENEY has also come through with a Music Video, co-directed by frontman Lance Cheney, and Emma Willison-de Pugh. Filmed at SAE University College, the video features the band performing the song alongside dancers, in-front of trippy retro-throwback visuals.

“We’re really excited to finally put Let It Out out into the world. We wanted the video to showcase not just the song, but the different creative skills within the band. Sahaja helped direct the clip, while Lance taught himself how to edit it through YouTube tutorials in adobe Premiere. It’s something we’re really proud of and can’t wait for people to see.”

“Let It Out was a really cool reminder that creativity doesn’t always need a massive budget or production team behind it. We had an idea, picked up a camera and started figuring things out. From directing and filming through to teaching ourselves the editing, we were able to build the clip ourselves and turn an idea into something real.”

“Making the Let It Out video was honestly just a lot of fun. We got to experiment, try things we hadn’t done before and throw a bunch of ideas around until we found what worked. There were definitely moments where we were learning as we went, but that became part of the experience. We had a great time making it, and hopefully that comes through when you watch it.”
