Newcastle trio Midway reveal new single ‘Silhouette’ and announce sophomore EP, Interrogation

Following on from the release of single ‘Tuffen Up’ in late 2024, Newcastle indie/psych-rock group MIDWAY have returned with their first slice of new music for 2025 in the catchy ‘SILHOUETTE’.

Released along with the announcement of their much anticipated sophomore EP release INTERROGATION, Midway shows new and old fans alike that they enter this brand new chapter as a bright force to be reckoned with.

Recorded at Hazy Cosmic Jive with producer/engineer Gareth Hudson (Briggs, Amy Vee, Goon Gremlins), Midway found themselves in a great position to play with form and explore some new sonic influences with this track, as work on the INTERROGATION EP began to gain momentum. Pulling from themes and ideas surrounding isolation, dissociation and a general sense of feeling out of place, Midway have created a track that pulls the listener in with ease.

“‘Silhouette’ expresses a sense of feeling out of place in your surroundings and isolated. It’s a heavy, long and expressive song which demonstrates the band’s experimentation in different tones, rhythms and instrumentation. It took the longest time, with Midway spending time getting the right sounds out of the synths and nailing the percussive features of the song.” MIDWAY

Much like previous track ‘Tuffen Up’, a song like ‘Silhouette’ shows the band’s hunger for pushing themselves creatively and the ambition they have for each release. In creating ‘Silhouette’, Midway extend further into sonic spaces that feel familiar to them as musicians and music fans, while also enjoying the challenge of incorporating new themes and directions into their output.

Since their formation in 2018, Midway have become a favourite mainstay within their own music community, while also landing on radars of more music fans beyond, thanks to support slots for the likes of Pacific AvenueEliza and The DelusionalsLe ShivBootleg Rascal and more.

In 2023, the band released their debut EP, Happy As Larry – a record that landed to a positive response, built on a bed of influences primed for fans of artists including Fontaines DCTame Impala and These New South Whales.
