Caravãna Sun reflect on grief and connection with new single ‘Keep My Love Close’

Sydney 4-piece Caravāna Sun have today returned with their first release for 2024; ‘Keep My Love Close’, a beautiful piece of indie electronica that reflects on grief, life and everlasting connection.

Transcendent chord progressions, a pulsing kick pattern and delicate arpeggiated synths build a strong foundation for the track – leaving the perfect backdrop for some truly stunning vocal melodies from the band that uplift the listener with a feeling of hope, contrasting beautifully with the heavy thematic tone found in the lyrics.

On ‘Keep My Love Close’, Caravāna Sun continue to build on the sound they’ve been developing over the last few years, moving closer and closer into the indie electronic sphere whilst still staying true to their roots.

Written alongside producer and frequent collaborator Joel Quartermain (Eskimo JoeMeg Mac) in a cosy studio in Southern Sydney along with mixing from Peter Holz (Gang Of Youths, Peking Duk, Vance Joy), the track blends elements of electronic and dance music with indie and pop effortlessly – culminating in a sound not dissimilar to Empire Of The Sun or Foals.

Thematically, the song reflects on a dark period for Singer/Guitarist Luke Carra – and how he has coped with a great loss, holding onto that connection and being there for his loved ones through that grief.

“it’s a song about Luke’s (Singer/ Guitarist) stillborn baby named Daisy & the longing to keep that connection strong throughout loss. Its song that expresses a love that will never be lost”

Currently signed to Berlin label Embassy Of Music (alongside Bjork, Moby and Ball Park Music), the band have carved out a name for themselves domestically and internationally through relentless touring, bringing their euphoric live show to huge audiences across the globe.

The band have played at international festivals such as Boardmasters (UK), Boomtown (UK), Reggae Sun Ska (France), headlined Madnes (Netherlands), and have played at Australian festivals such as Party In The PaddockBluesfest and Woodford Folk Festival in their time. They’ve hit the road supporting bands such as Madness and UB 40, and recently sold out every venue during a tour through WA.

They’re currently wrapping up the Hearts Awake tour, which includes their second appearance at Bluesfest, following on from their last appearance at the Byron Bay festival in 2022 where the band played in front of 10,000 people on the main stage. As the band prepare for another huge year of touring, the release of ‘Keep My Love Close’ is sure to become a favourite moment in their live set for their ever-growing fanbase.
