Caravāna Sun are back with new music to see us into the summer, this time lighting up radars with ‘Only The Night’. The arrival of this song is a bright reminder of resilience and community, with Caravāna Sun providing an excellent blend of vibrant musicality and optimism that buoys an always clever bed of lyrics.
Following on from their April track ‘Keep My Love Close’, Caravāna Sun worked with producer Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe, Meg Mac) on ‘Only The Night’; the writing and recording of the track taking place in the back of a mattress factory in Sydney.
Noting the cathartic nature of the single, the band describes ‘Only The Night’ as a current live favourite, and a song that resides in “a sonic world we could dance in for hours”.
“This song was written about the beauty and chaos of trying to claw our way back from hard situations. It’s about finding the grace and courage to embrace life and the inevitable troughs. It’s about finding ways to persevere through rough patches. It’s the old light at the end of the tunnel. It’s darkest before dawn. Caravãna Sun shows are about coming together, dancing and singing as a collective. This song represents the strength of the community to lift each other up and find some sense of humour in it all.” CARAVÃNA SUN
As one of the hardest working bands Australian has to offer – Caravāna Sun are currently signed to Berlin label Embassy Of Music (alongside Bjork, Moby and Ball Park Music), and have built a devout fanbase internationally through years of rigorous touring. Previously featuring on bills for festivals such as Boardmasters (UK), Boomtown (UK), Reggae Sun Ska (France), and Madnes (Netherlands); the band have received support from all corners of the globe, with 9m+ streams to their name and an 40k+ followers across socials.
Released ahead of a summer run of shows that include Woodford Folk Festival over New Year’s, ‘Only The Night’ is the perfect dose of Caravāna Sun sun goodness to ease into long summer nights and warmer temps. Throughout 2024, the band has been continuing to make strides as one of the country’s favourite live groups, returning to Bluesfest and completing their ‘Hearts Awake’ tour; bringing the Caravāna Sun catalogue to hungry audiences keen for more.
